Be Courageous and Strong"
So Happy with how this came out. Used Hot Glue (again) to make the tree. Background is painted with Acrylic Inks, watered down considerably. I always mod-podge paper onto my canvases. I just find that everything sticks better to painted paper over painted canvas. Scripture is Joshua 1:9 "Be courageous and strong. Jehovah your God is with you." 6x6x2 Canvas

Under His Wings
7 x14 canvas.
Birds were designed on card stock using Dylusions sprays over gessoed mask then cut out and further embellished with stamps and paint smears.
Canvas was covered with paper scraps applied with Golden matte medium. After drying I gessoed over it then applied paints complimentary to the birds. However, the birds were too close a match, and I loved them, so I had to alter the canvas. I decided to make a subdued colored inner frame to show them off better. Then I stamped the harlequin background then softened that with LuminArte Sunflowers glaze. Then I stamped a swirly black frame around that. And I finally liked it! Hope it inspires your creativity!

O that I had Wings!
Because every now and then we all want to get away! |
Bird outlines were found online. Printed and cut them out. Used a Heidi Swapp stencil with Gesso. When Gesso was dried, I sprayed with Heidi Swapp sprays, removing excess from Gesso with baby wipe. Background started with several Caran d'Ache water soluble crayon colors randomly added then wet with paintbrush then sprayed so colors could mingle a little. It was too bright for what I was looking for so added a smear of Heidi Swapp sprays over top and spread around with credit card. Used some stencils and stamps. The blue streaks come from a weird method I invented. I took the chunk of dried Gesso from the top of my bottle and spritzed water into an empty well on my palate. I dipped the gesso chunk into that water then dipped it in yesterdays (blue) watercolor that was sitting on my palate still. Just kinda scratched in the 'rain' using the blue tinted wet gesso chunk. How is that for a method? I like the effect, and will likely use it again!

The Peace of God
This girl just looked so peaceful to me once I'd created her that I knew her inspirational scripture had to be Philippians 4:7. "The peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and mental powers by means of Christ Jesus." Verses 5 & 6 encourage us to pour our hearts out to Jehovah and then he will grant us His peace. So this is to remind myself to pray even more often.
Her face is drawn with graphite then colored with Prismacolor Pencils. Background includes LuminArte Silks and Jacquard Limiere paints. Leaves and flowers from Basic Grey Marjolaine.

5 Small Sparrows
I love word pictures in the Bible! Here is another one that inspired a page in my Journal. at Luke 12: 6,7 Jesus said: "Five sparrows sell for two coins of small value, do they not? Yet not one of them goes forgotten before God. But even the hairs of your head are numbered. Have no fear; You are worth more than many sparrows."
So these are my 5 sparrows supporting one another! It is a lovely word picture reminder of the loving care Jehovah has for each of us.
